So what have I been working on?

I've made a couple of these trangle scarfs for gifts. The pattern is easy and a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. If interested in mulidirectional knitting and to get this patern just subscribe to the yahoo goup.

Here is a picture of the poor sad neglected jaywalker. In the last couple days I have managed to do the heel flap and turn the heel. I've missed knitting my sock! My goal is to finish the sock in one week hopefully in time to make the next knitalong update. Sounds doable I think! I'm anxious to start the next pair in either the opal handpaint or some Lorna's Laces Black Pearl. I really want to try the two ciruclar method but I'm not sure how I would do it since what I'm doing with dp's is changing from size 1.5 to 2 and then back to 1.5 for the foot in order to get the right size.

New Yarn & Jaywalker Progress Photos

Opal Haindpaint ordered from an ebay seller in the Netherlands

An opal prototype yarn also from ebay

As promised here is the picture of the finished Jaywalker and the started 2nd sock. I would have liked to have done more with them but I've really been trying to work on my christmas knitting. I do enjoy this pattern and I'm pleased with the fit of my first sock. I'm doing the first inch of the cuff in 1.5 needles and then going up to size 2s for the rest of the cuff then I'm going back to 1.5 for the rest of the foot. It think that will solve the problem of the sock being really hard to put on but still be tight enough to have a good fit. It really does loosen up after wearing. I think one of the new yarns will be my next Jayalkers. I really like the way Opal yarn wears but I did not want any more of the fake fair isle types that are available over here. Can't wait to give them a try. Restraint, restraint, restraint!

Jaywalker sock one finished

can't post a picture but wanted to update that I did finish one sock Tuesday. I really thought I would run out of yarn. Cast on for the second yesterday and have done a little bit the yesterday evening and tonight. Anyway dispite a few problems I'm pleased with my first sock and eager to finish the second.

back to basics

So I've conceded that I MIGHT not finish the lace scarf before chrismas so I think instead for my mom I'm making the most pricey stockinette scarf ever. It is on size 15 needles and I'm using NORO silk garden, some mohair, and some ladder ribbon yarn. All stuff I hadn't been able to figure out what to do with and it actually looks good. I've never even made a scarf before. It is hard to give myself permission to make something easy. The first thing I knitted was a hat in the round with double points and everything and so I never did really basic beginning knitter stuff. Anyway, it is so much faster to knit then socks it is weird. I finished the portion in the picture just watching tv for a couple hours last night
